SEO Company

If you have a website and have tried to manage the SEO, Search Engine Optimization, on your own then you have probably noticed that it is hard to climb in the search engine rankings.  Hiring an SEO company is frequently the best way to get positive results with your search engine ranking.  However, beware that there are scam SEO companies out there such as those who promise guaranteed results that they can’t deliver.  There are reliable SEO companies too, but you just have to know what to look for.  Here is a list of some points to consider and watch for when choosing an SEO company:

  • Be sure that the company follows the best practices of all Google guidelines
  • No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on a search engine, if a company is making these kinds of promises then you should probably walk away.
  • Become familiar with some of the more common blackhat techniques to be sure the SEO company does not practice them.
  • Word of mouth is the best referral.  If you have friends, business associates or other companies who recommend an SEO company then they would be worth checking out.
  • Google the SEO companies name.  If there are negative reports don’t contact that company.  If you don’t see anything negative that’s a good sign however, but still proceed with caution.
  • Ask to see example sites or a portfolio of sites that the company has worked to optimize.  Perhaps even ask for references from those other companies.
  • Check the search engine rankings of the company’s own website.  If they aren’t good at getting their own company ranked high on search engines then they probably won’t perform much better with your site.
  • If they use automated submissions take your business elsewhere.  Automated submissions can get your site banned from search engines.  Manual submissions are the only acceptable ones.
  • Only hire a company who will meet your requirements.
  • A professional SEO company will have competitive realistic prices.  If you go with the most expensive company that doesn’t mean you will get the best results.  The same is true of the least expensive company, sometimes you do get what you pay for.
  • Ask if the company will continue to work with you to maintain your site and search engine rankings.  Unfortunately SEO is not a simple one time fix, it is a constant process.  You do not want to work with a firm that will get you great results and then drop you as a client.

The above list offers some of the most important issues to consider when selecting an SEO company.  There are other factors to consider and every business has its own unique set of needs.  Consider some of the other factors that impact your company’s website before signing a contract with an SEO company.
